Literature- "Go Away, Big Green Monster!" by Ed Emberly
Craft- Following Directions Monster coloring page or, you could use the same color coded instructions but use M&Ms to color in the monster with this page. (be sure to save some M&M's for Wednesday!)
Tuesday- Science

Topic- 5 Senses
Read- "Hello, Ocean!" by Pam Munoz Ryan/ "My Five Senses" by Aliki
Activity- Senses Mystery Game: Introduce child to "mystery" smell/taste, etc. Have them guess what it is.
Smell: Collect several different odors in non-see through canister (film canister?). Ex: extracts, vapor medicine, a strawberry, shampoo, herbs..)
Taste: Blindfold child. Have them taste different foods. Ex: sweet chocolate, sour lemon, salty pretzel, etc.)
Hear: Make different sounds (behind blanket?) Ex: Keys, coins, rocks, jingle bells, etc.
Feel: Blinfold child and feel objects. Ex: cotton ball, sand paper, ice, wood, lotion, tape.
See: Play I spy!
Wednesday- Math

Topic- Graphing and Comparing
Activity- M&M Graphing: Print off this chart and color M&M's. (or just make your own) Give child a bowl of M&M's. Help him put each in the appropriate column. When through, discuss the results.
Compare: Which has the most? least? same?
Count: How many blues are there? How many more greens do we need to make them equal to the reds? There are 8 browns. How many are there if we eat 2 of them? Etc, etc. Write out math problems with number magnets or cards.
Thursday- Social Studies

Topic- Maps
Learn- get out an atlas, globe and/or maps. Show to child and explain what maps are for and when we might use them. Show child the continent, state, and city where you live. Show him other parts of the world where friends or family live or that you've visited.
Activity- Carpet Map: Using masking tape, help child make roads on the carpet. Create a city. Use wooden blocks for buildings and pieces of colored paper for water, grass, etc. Let child be creative. Use toy cars and trucks to drive through city. Let child play and create as he wishes.
