MONDAY- EYES
The vocabulary word is iris - the iris is the colored part of your eye surrounding the pupil.
- play I Spy or do an I Spy book
- sing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" emphasising Eyes
- Place a picture of a face (on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper or larger) on the wall, but the eyes should be missing. Blindfold your child and then let him/her tape on the eyes. Help your child start walking from the other side of the room to get to the picture, while blindfolded. At this age you don't need to spin your child around first. See how funny your face looks!
- Explore outside (or inside if bad weather). Talk about how what we can see with our eyes and what it would be like if we didn't have them.
TUESDAY- BLUE
- put on a blue article of clothing
- walk around the house, pointing out things that are Blue
- add food coloring to milk for a snack. use blue plate or utensils.
- water color whale blue
- while coloring, sing:
Blue (to the tune Frere Jacques)
B-l-u-e, b-l-u-e
That spells blue, that spells blue
Like the color of the sky,
Like the color of the sea
Blue, blue, blue, Blue, blue, blue
WEDNESDAY- LETTER D
- make 'What Begins with D' mini book and/ or color simple Dd template using one of the methods mentioned on the site.
- Add 'D' alphabet flashcard. Review with other letters.
THURSDAY- NUMBER 4
- work in Preschool Workbook to introduce # or use #4 worksheet
- FISHING FOR FOURS.
Make a simple fishing game with a stick, some yarn and a horseshoe magnet.
Cut out paper fish shapes and write different numerals on the fish. Make about 12 fish and have three with the number 4 on them.
Place paper clips over the mouths of each fish and lay the fish on the floor.
Let your children take turns fishing for fish with the number 4 on them.
Variation: For younger children who may not recognize the numeral 4, you could just have them fish until they catch four fish.
- Eat 4 of something (cookies, crackers, etc)
FRIDAY- REVIEW and FUN (Didn't like the nursery rhyme for this week)
- Play with BLUE playdough, make 4 of shapes, the number 4, the letter D, an Eye...etc. Just review the whole week.
- PASTA NAMES
Write children’s names on a large sheet of construction paper. Trace with glue.
Give them some cooked spaghetti noodles. (add coloring to water while cooking)
Have them lay the noodles along the lines of their name.
Supply small butter knieves for cutting pasta to desired lengths.
- Bake COOKIES
